A lucky winner will receive a trip for two to Atlanta for an exclusive behind the scenes experience at the Emory Healthcare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, including a meeting with NASCAR driver Carl Edwards.
Aflac's Finding The All-American Worker contest is being hosted on the newly launched Aflac Racing page on Facebook and runs through Aug. 18. To participate in the contest, entrants must explain how they, or someone they know, go above and beyond on the job and in their lives.
"I can't think of anything better than a Labor Day race to celebrate the spirit of the American workforce -- a workforce Aflac has under its wing," said Edwards.
The grand prize includes roundtrip airfare for two, 3-day/2-night hotel accommodations, ground transportation and $500 spending money. Entries must provide a detailed account of the nominee's line of work and why the person is deserving of the prize. Entries can be submitted online at the Aflac Racing Fan page on Facebook at Facebook.com/AflacRacing.

Public voting on the contest page will determine the top-five submissions based on the total number of votes received. From that group, Aflac will review and judge the semifinalist essays and determine a contest winner in August.

Ride Along Racing Tonight at Atlanta Motor Speedway
Tonight is the night to give your wife, girlfriend, husband, boyfriend, son, daughter, other relative, co-worker, boss or anyone the thrill of a lifetime!
It is ‘Ride Along Night’ at Friday Night Drags and Show-N-Shine this Friday, July 24 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Drag racers in the Domestic, Domestic Advanced, Truck, Truck Advanced, Tuner and Sport Compact divisions are welcome to buckle in a passenger while testing and racing down the street strip at AMS. Just bring along an extra helmet, make sure the seat belts or harness are in working order on the passenger side and take them for a ride!!!
Each rider needs to sign-up at the main tunnel entrance, nab a wristband for $20 and then get ready for some drag race coaching. Everyone is invited to join the fun. Children and young adults under age 18, must have a completed waiver form with both parents signatures to drag race or ride along. Waiver forms are available at the Atlanta Motor Speedway website and must be notarized if both parents will not be attending the event.
Don’t forget…every night is ‘Ride Along Night’ with the Show-N-Shine participants. The nightly speedway cruise allows everyone to hop on board with their family and friends and cruise the high banks of Atlanta Motor Speedway. Invite your best buddies to join you for the ride around the speedway at 8:15pm.

Speedway Motorsports Agrees to Purchase Kentucky Speedway

BUSINESS WIRE--Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:TRK) has agreed to purchase Kentucky Speedway from Kentucky Speedway, LLC. The agreement was announced today by O. Bruton Smith, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2008.
Kentucky Speedway, which opened in 2000, hosts one NASCAR Nationwide Series event, one NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event, one IndyCar Series event and other racing events each year. The speedway is located in Sparta, Ky., approximately one-half hour south of Cincinnati, Ohio. The speedway is easily accessible via modern highways.
Located on approximately 820 acres, Kentucky Speedway features a 1.5-mile tri-oval speedway, with chair-back grandstand seating for 66,089 spectators, 50 luxury suites with seats for approximately 2,000, 100 private RV spaces, 200 reserved camping spaces and 1,000 unreserved camping spaces. Kentucky Speedway regularly hosts near capacity crowds for its Nationwide Series events.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our company to grow into a new market in a modern speedway facility. We continue to be committed to investing in the motorsports industry,” said Smith.
Smith added that he has offered Jerry Carroll, who was instrumental in the development of Kentucky Speedway, the opportunity to remain involved in its future operations.
Kentucky Speedway will join an outstanding lineup of SMI facilities. The company also owns and operates Atlanta Motor Speedway; Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn.; Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.; Las Vegas Motor Speedway; Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C.; New Hampshire Motor Speedway, in Loudon, N.H.; and Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, Texas.
With this acquisition, the company will own race tracks in the West, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and Southwest, including four of the nation’s top-10 designated market areas.
The breakdown includes: the fifth-largest market (Texas/Dallas-Ft. Worth); the sixth-largest market (Infineon/San Francisco); the seventh-largest market (New Hampshire/Boston); the eighth-largest market (Atlanta); the 25th-largest market (Lowe’s/Charlotte); the 33rd-largest market (Kentucky/Cincinnati): the 43rd-largest market (Las Vegas); and the 91st-largest market (Bristol/Tri-Cities).

The top drivers will be invited to come back during our NASCAR event (Saturday afternoon – better conditions for drag racing) and compete is our Challenge race!
