The Atlanta Braves released their tentative schedule on September 17 for the 2009 season. A finalized schedule with start times will be released at a later date in the off-season.
The Braves open the regular season on Monday, April 6, with a three-game series at Philadelphia (April 6-9) and then return to Atlanta to open their home portion of the 2009 season with a three-game set versus the Washington Nationals on April 10.
The 2008 home schedule includes nine games each against National League East Division rivals New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Florida, as well as a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals (April 27-29), a three-game set versus the Chicago Cubs (June 2-4) and a weekend series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers (July 31-August 2). The Braves will conclude their home slate October 1-4 with the Washington Nationals.
The Braves play a total of five interleague series, with three of the series coming at home against the Toronto Blue Jays (May 22-24), the New York Yankees (June 23-25), who will be making their first visit to Atlanta since 2000, and the Boston Red Sox (June 26-28). The Braves' American League road opponents include the Baltimore Orioles (June 12-14) and the Red Sox (June 19-21).
The overall home slate features 36 games against National League East Division opponents, 19 games against the N.L. Central Division, 17 against the N.L. West Division and nine against the American League.
In addition to the regular-season schedule, the Braves are slated to play a pair of exhibition games at Turner Field on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4, versus the Detroit Tigers.
